Providing so many different uses, the Apple iPod Touch can be used for various functions; however, some consumers do not fully utilize the benefits of having the iPod Touch with them on the go because they are concerned about damaging their iPod.
Many cases such as silicon sleeves, "bullet-proof" shields, leather cases, and more exist for the iPod touch, and selecting one can be a matter of preference based on your unique needs. However, there are a few things to consider when purchasing a case for the Touch.
1. Adhesive screen versus no screen - Many cases come with a protective plastic or a film screen that can adhere to the glass display of the iPod Touch. The upside is that the screen will protect the glass. The downside is that your beautifully designed iPod is now covered by a almost, but not completely, transparent film. The other downside is that if you want the iPod out of it's case, it can be difficult to remove.
2. Silicon, rubber, plastic, or leather cases - Consider the various materials that the case is made from. A silicon or rubber case will cost much less than a leather case; however, they generally pick up a lot of lint and are hard to take in and out of a pocket. A hardened rubber or plastic case can help protect from accidental drops. A leather case will add style and help to enhance the look of the device. So, determine what is your protection vs. style disposition. Not all stylish cases will protect the iPod from a drop.
3. Consider the cost of the case - A final consideration is what you're willing to pay for the case. Determine if your $300 plus purchase merits a $.99 case or a $50 case. Hopefully, you'll find something in between that will do the job.
The Apple iPod is a classy device and deserves a great case. Although many purchase the silicon cases, the iPod Touch deserves something better. Decide what suits your tastes best, but make sure to explore your options.
