Finding Sales Online
You've heard of "Blue Light Specials" and other sales by brick and mortar stores, but did you know that major web retailers such as Amazon.com frequently run sales?
You just need to know where to look. Sites such as Amazon.com will offer promotions and special offers (buy 2, get 1 free, etc.), but a sale is a markdown for the purchase of just one item.
Where to look: On the biggest web retailer, Amazon, there a couple places where you can find sales:
1. On the Product Page - The word "Price" will be replaced by "Sale" as the indication there's a discount. This works great if you're after a specific product and have time on your hands.
2. The Amazon Outlet Store
provides a more practical way to find sales on the site. You can search by products that are marked down 70, 50, or 25% off. It's a great place to find discounted products!

Promotions Tip
Finding promotions and coupons on things you love can be a real blast, not to mention good for the wallet. However, you don't have to wait for the coupons to come to you.
Give this tip a try: when you are about to purchase something online and know the product/brand selection you wish to purchase, simply search for the product and add the words coupon orpromotion into Google. You can also search by the website/company name and add coupon code or promotion to your search.
When in the market for a new laptop, I used this method to save $200, and it took only about 30 seconds to find the promotion code. Of course, I ended up using the $200 to purchase extra features. The same thing happened when looking for some backup software a couple weeks ago. Easy as pie!
Sites such as Retailmenot.com, FatWallet, and pinchingyourpennies can be sites on which you'll find the coupons, but doing a Google search will help identify more options.
