3Good but not reliableDec 12, 2009
By BD
I have a few of these and have gone through a couple returns. We do like them and use them constantly so they are great when they work. The first one I was given was a gift so I didn't have the receipt. It died after about a year so I did some exploratory surgery to figure out what was wrong. I discovered that the small little circuit board that holds the switch for the volume setting had become completely corroded from moisture. The switch was a green fuzz ball (copper corrosion) and had simply fallen off. This could explain the other complaints about battery usage and sudden death performance. The selector switch simply made a connection to the motor and sensor. I figured out a simple repair to put it back into action. There is a 4 wire cable that runs to the switch. I cut it at the circuit board and then by connecting the red wire to the others one at a time you can obtain the 3 volume settings. I used the red connected to the green for a relatively thin soap. It is now working just fine at least for now but you can't turn it off or change the setting without taking off the bottom and making a different wire connection.

This fix should work for a while. Hopefully new units have a different more robust design. The design isn't really water tight and our kitchen sink area is a very wet area so the unit is bound to get wet and certainly will have water under the base. I have one by my bathroom sink and it is working fine.

Good luck with your units.

5Great Soap DispenserSep 23, 2009
By A.C.
I've always used the hand-pump soap dispensers until my husband bought this automatic soap dispenser. I was a little hesitant at first, thinking it might be messy or the soap wouldn't come out when I want it to, but this is not the case. I love it! The sensor works great, and I haven't had any messes to clean up. My kids especially think it's fun to use.

It has four soap settings, so you can adjust how much soap comes out. I have it on the lowest setting, and I think it is plenty. There is also a button on top to pump it manually.

Just be careful when picking it up to move it. If you pick it up from the front, you'll get soap on your hands. Pick it up from the back.

1Not consistentNov 29, 2009

This doesn't work consistently. I don't have time to fiddle with it every other time I need to wash my hands... too high maintenance for me. The soap just doesn't come out half the time, I can hear the noise of the motor so it's not the sensor, but nothing comes out. And you have to wipe it down every day, the surface just looks grimy and streaked.
